How long does it take to complete the Abitur through adult education?
The course of study usually lasts 3 years (6 semesters) and leads to the general university entrance qualification (allgemeine Hochschulreife).
What entry requirements do I need to meet?
You must be at least 18 years old, hold a secondary school leaving certificate (MSA) and provide evidence of having completed vocational training or having at least two years’ work experience (time spent bringing up children or providing care may be taken into account).
What requirements do I need to meet to obtain my first school-leaving certificate (Year 9)?
You must be at least 17 years old and have attended school for 10 years. We also require proof of at least six months’ work experience or that you are currently in employment.
Who is the Extended Primary School Leaving Certificate (Year 10) suitable for?
For anyone who has already obtained their first school-leaving certificate after Year 9 (Hauptschule certificate, Year 9) and wishes to improve their qualifications in order to gain better opportunities for further education or to work towards the MSA (Realschule certificate).
How much time does it take each week?
Face-to-face teaching comprises 22 to 24 hours per week, supplemented by independent study for preparation and follow-up work.
